Released in 1998, the Pentax 67II was the most substantial update to the Pentax 6×7 / 67 line in decades. It kept the same large 6×7 negative and familiar SLR-style handling, but added a redesigned body with an integrated right-hand grip, LCD information display, multiple-exposure mode and a 12-second self-timer. With the optional AE pentaprism, it also introduced aperture-priority exposure, exposure compensation and three metering patterns — six-segment, centre-weighted and spot — making it significantly faster and more flexible to use than the earlier Pentax 67.
For professional work, that matters because the 67II keeps the distinctive look and scale of the 6×7 format while making the camera much easier to operate handheld and on location. The large 55 × 70mm frame delivers exceptional detail and tonal depth, while the combination of improved metering, clearer finder information and better ergonomics makes it particularly strong for portrait, fashion, editorial, landscape and location photography.

Introduced in 1989 as the updated version of the original Pentax 6×7 system launched in 1969, the Pentax 67 retained the same large 6×7 format and unmistakable oversized-SLR layout while refining the body and controls. The system uses 120 or 220 roll film, interchangeable finders and the long-running Pentax 6×7 dual-bayonet lens mount, giving access to one of the most extensive medium-format lens ranges of its generation.
Its enduring appeal is the combination of a very large 55 × 70mm negative with direct, fully manual operation and relatively familiar SLR handling. Compared with many modular medium-format systems, the Pentax 67 feels immediate and particularly well suited to handheld portrait, fashion, editorial and landscape work. The optional wooden grip has also become part of the camera’s distinctive working character, improving handling without changing the simplicity of the system.

The Pentax 67 SMC 35mm f/4.5 Fisheye is the widest lens in the Pentax 6×7 system, delivering a full 180° diagonal field of view across the large 6×7 frame. First introduced in 1969 and later updated with Pentax’s multi-coating, it retained the same 11-element optical design throughout its production life. Unlike a rectilinear ultra-wide, it deliberately preserves fisheye distortion, producing an extreme sense of space and curvature that can be used very deliberately in fashion, editorial, landscape and architectural work.
Its appeal is less about conventional wide-angle correction and more about using perspective as a graphic tool. Kept level and composed carefully, it can produce expansive scenic images; tilted or brought close to the subject, it becomes far more expressive and exaggerated. On 6×7 film, that combination of 180° coverage and a very large negative makes it a particularly distinctive specialist lens.

The SMC Pentax 67 55mm f/4 is a wide-angle lens for the Pentax 6×7 system, giving a field of view roughly equivalent to a 28mm lens on 35mm.
